The City of Esch-sur-Alzette and the non-profit organisation Escher Kulturnuecht have announced the postponement of this year's Nuit de la Culture (Culture Night), originally scheduled for 2 May, until September 2020.

Earlier today, the organisers released the following statement confirming their decision: "Following the latest government measures announced and regular contact with health institutions and authorities and in an unprecedented period of uncertainty, postponement is now the only viable option for Culture Night".

The statement continued: "Our main concerns are the health and safety of the public, artists, partners and teams. We sincerely hope that the situation in Luxembourg and in the rest of the world will be considerably improved by May, but even if that is the case, we will no longer be able and no longer have the time to offer projects that meet our requirements and the objectives we have set for and through Culture Night".

The organisers concluded: "After the decision to postpone Culture Night, we are examining the possibilities of proposing [it] next September. The teams are already hard at work to organise a new autumn edition".
