This weekend marks the official launch of the 2018/19 Rotondes season, celebrating their 11th anniversary.
The programme of this inaugural weekend reflects that of the season to come: music with the Exit: LX Night and three vernissages Friday night, six performances of the cine-concert for young audiences, water games and a local market.
"Ready to play?" is a slogan that Rotondes has come up with along with three borad game designers, Jens Merkl, Ulrich Blum and Jean-Claude Pellin. Together, they imagined a cross between urban art and hopscotch, a concept that Alain Welter (the illustrator behind the Make Koler Kooler project) then interpreted on the floor of the forecourt. For several weeks, he created a colourful and playful world, featuring many references to pop culture.
Ready to Play? is like an XXL board game or like a jump and run video game but in real life. On a road strewn with pitfalls and subtle nods to the news, players must avoid obstacles, look for different objects and defend themselves against frightening characters. The route of this giant treasure hunt is now free throughout the year.
The public will also be able to attend a cinéconcert on display throughout this weekend. Water games (accessible from the age of 2) will reflect the quality of the shows proposed in 2018/19 - fun for all ages. No less than 11 shows will therefore be especially recommended for adults this season, such as Mule (circus nouveau, 18-19 October) and La convivialité (show-conference, 21 November).
To take advantage of this offer at a good rate throughout the season, Rotondes is offering its new Rotondes card which offers immediate advantages. For the price of €20, card holders are entitled to 20% off all events for sale via its box office (except Labos) and gift shop items.
The programme will continue to expand over the months and the Season Opening is just a preview of this special anniversary season.
