The Luxembourg SEAT Davis Cup Team has been drawn to face Ukraine in the World Group I Play-Off.
The tie is scheduled for the weekend from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 February 2026 and will be a home encounter for the team led by captain Gilles Muller.
In mid-September, Luxembourg lost 0-4 to Chile in the World Group I tie without their top player, Chris Rodesch, who was sidelined through injury. Ukraine, for their part, recorded a 4-0 victory over the Dominican Republic in World Group II.
Reacting to the draw in an interview with Chronicle.lu, Gilles Muller said: “We have to be honest, I think this time we can say that we had a better draw than in other years. First of all, a home tie again that’s huge. And playing Ukraine, with Chris Rodesch at this moment, on paper we could say we are maybe slight favourites, but as you know, a Davis Cup tie is always special, and the rankings don’t mean that much.”
He added that Ukraine will nevertheless pose a significant challenge: “They have a good team, with four or five players in the top 400, so it’s definitely going to be a tough match. But we’re looking forward to it.”
