On Thursday 20 June 2024, Luxembourg's women's tennis team played hosts Moldova in their first match in the pool for 4th to 6th place in the European Group III at the Billie Jean King Cup tennis competition, which is taking place in Chisinau in Moldova.
The Luxembourg team had defeated Azerbaijan (3-0) on Monday and Montenegro (3-0) on Tuesday, before suffering defeat at the hands of Ireland (0-3) on Wednesday.
Luxembourg was then set to go up against Moldova and Armenia in the 4th - 6th place play-offs. In the first match, on Thursday, Luxembourg lost 0-3 to Moldova.
In the singles, Marie Weckerle lost to Abigail Rencheli 6-4, 3-6, 0-6, whilst Lucie Rabiot lost to Arina Gamretkaia 4-6, 6-4, 1-6. In the doubles, Claudine Schaul and Erna Brdarevic suffered a 1-6, 4-6 defeat.
Luxembourg now has just one more match, against Armenia on Friday 21 June 2024.
