From Sunday 31 December 2023 to Sunday 14 January 2024, the Luxembourg Tennis Federation (FLT), together with the Luxembourg Open, will organise two international tournaments in the Centre National de Tennis (CNT) in Esch-Lallange.
The first is an ITF M25 ($25,000 prize money) for men and will take place from Sunday 31 December 2023 to Sunday 7 January 2024. The second is an ITF W15 ($15,000 prize money) for women and will run from Sunday 7 to Sunday 14 January 2024.
These tournaments are expected to allow the best Luxembourgish players to compete against international competition on home turf.
Among the top Luxembourgish players for the ITF M25 are Chris Rodesch, Alex Knaff and Raphael Calzi. They will go up against the likes of Kyle Edmund (UK) and Nikoloz Basilashvili (Georgia), two former Top 20 players in the ATP rankings. The former, now aged 28, reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 14 in 2018. Similarly, the latter, now aged 31, secured a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 16 in 2019. FLT added that both players have struggled with injuries recently.
The men's final will be played on 7 January - the same day on which the women's tournament will begin. The women's final is scheduled for 14 January. More information about the women's tournament is expected to follow in the coming days.
The full programme will soon be available on the ITF website. Entry to the CNT is free for spectators for both tournaments.
