Qualifying is underway at the BGL BNP Paribas Luxembourg Open at the CK Sportcenter in Kockelscheuer; Luxembourg wildcard Marie Weckerle went up against Cristina Bucsa on Saturday.

This WTA 250 event attracts professional women tennis players from many different countries. The main draw ceremony took place on Saturday evening, followed by the award ceremony to present Ana Ivanovic the Jana Novotna Award 2021.

A wildcard was awarded to 18-year-old Luxembourgish player Marie Weckerle to participate in qualifying.

Her opponent, Cristina Bucsa, a Moldovan-Spanish 23-year-old with a WTA ranking of 161 and qualifying 5th seed, proved too strong for Marie during Saturday's game. Cristina prevailed 6-1, 6-2.
