Wild card Jelena Ostapenko defeated defending champion and second seed, Julia Goerges, in straight sets on Sunday at the BGL BNP Paribas Luxembourg Open finals.

The 22-year-old Latvian tennis player and world no. 44 (WTA ranking) has picked up her first title in over two years at the Luxembourg Open this year, having defeated world no. 28 Julia Goerges 6-4, 6-1 on Sunday afternoon.

In addition, unseeded American team Coco Gauff (WTA doubles 78) and Catherine McNally (WTA doubles 64) defeated second seeded Kaitlyn Christian (USA) and Alexa Guarachi (Chile) 6-2, 6-2 in the Doubles Final of the Luxembourg Open. The win marks the second WTA doubles title for the US duo.
