BGL BNP Paribas Luxembourg Open has announced the withdrawal of professional tennis players Angelique Kerber and Maria Sharapova from the competition due to injuries.
German professional tennis player, former world No. 1 and current world No. 13, Angelique Kerber, has withdrawn due to a leg injury, whilst Russian professional tennis player and fellow former world No.1, Maria Sharapova (current No. 137), has withdrawn due to a shoulder injury.
In this context, US tennis players Catherine McNally (No. 93) and Coco Gauff (No. 109) will move into the main draw.
Nevertheless, Maria Sharapova is set to make a flying visit to Luxembourg next Tuesday to meet the press followed by a meet & greet in the BGL BNP Paribas village. She will then visit the Porsche Zenter Luxembourg for a Cocktail in the VIP area (invitation only).
