POST Luxembourg has reported that mobile data consumption once again increased over the New Year holiday period; the number of text messages (SMS) dropped over one year.
On Sunday 31 December 2023 and Monday 1 January 2024, the total number of SMS sent on the POST mobile network was 624,191, representing a decrease of 4.5% compared to the previous year.
The volume of data exchanged on the POST mobile network during these two days increased by 48%: 248 terabytes of data were exchanged on the mobile internet across all networks combined (2G, 4G and 5G).
During the same period one year earlier, the volume of data sent on the POST mobile network was 168 terabytes and the total number of SMS sent was 653,234.
