Luxembourg-based non-profit organisation LUkraine asbl has reported that its "Ukraine Is Calling" campaign, launched in Luxembourg in 2022, has now reached eleven European countries.

The initiative centres on a destroyed ambulance from Ukraine's Kharkiv region and aims to raise awareness of Russia's war against Ukraine while supporting the purchase of new emergency vehicles.

According to LUkraine asbl, the ambulance was brought to Luxembourg in autumn 2022 as part of the "Ukraine Is Calling" campaign. The vehicle came under Russian shelling in a village in the Kharkiv region in September 2022 when paramedics arrived to provide first aid to an injured civilian. The crew survived, but the ambulance was struck by a missile and could not complete the evacuation.

LUkraine asbl noted that the advocacy project pursues three main objectives: raising awareness of war crimes committed by the Russian Federation in Ukraine, highlighting the dangerous conditions in which paramedics operate and helping to fund new rescue vehicles, including ambulances, fire engines and pickup trucks needed during the ongoing war.

"This is a unique advocacy project with no equivalent in Europe. We are proud that our team has been implementing it for the fourth consecutive year. This exhibition serves as a reminder to Europeans about the war in Ukraine and stands as clear evidence of the crimes against humanity committed by the Russian Federation," Inna Yaremenko, Vice-President of LUkraine asbl, told Chronicle.lu.

Since arriving in Luxembourg in late 2022, the ambulance has travelled across Europe as part of a touring exhibition. After its first display in Luxembourg in November and December 2022, it appeared in Brussels in front of the European Parliament, Strasbourg in front of the Council of Europe and Metz in early 2023. The exhibition then visited eleven cities in the Netherlands before travelling to Belgium, the UK, Austria, Slovakia, Italy, France and Switzerland.

According to LUkraine asbl, the vehicle has now been exhibited in ten countries and is currently continuing its journey in Portugal, the eleventh country to host the touring exhibition. The Italian leg of the campaign covered more than 50 cities between April and September 2024. In France, where the exhibition toured more than 50 cities between October 2024 and August 2025, fundraising efforts helped finance 28 new ambulances, against an initial target of 30.

The "Ukraine Is Calling" campaign aimed to deliver 112 fire engines and ambulances to support Ukraine's emergency and medical services. LUkraine asbl reported that the initiative reached this target in October 2025, although the ambulance exhibition continues to travel across Europe.

The campaign received the European Citizen's Prize 2023 from the European Parliament. According to LUkraine asbl, it had raised €2.87 million by October 2025.
