On Monday 25 August 2025, the Luxembourg Squash Federation (Fédération de Squash Luxembourgeoise - FSL) announced the appointment of Christopher Votion as its new Technical Director and Tomi Niinimäki as the new National Coach.

According to FSL, this appointment aims to elevate the squash environment and infrastructure in Luxembourg, with a particular focus on junior outreach and development.

Christopher Votion from Belgium, who has taken on the role of National Technical Director, brings over fifteen years of experience in squash development. His previous roles range from club management to overseeing major international tournaments, including the 2022 World Junior Squash Championships in Nancy. A former high-level player and certified coach, he previously managed a squash club, launched youth programmes, and served as Technical Coordinator for the Grand Est Squash League (2018-2025).

Reflecting on Christopher Votion career, he stated: “I’ve been lucky enough to spend over fifteen years doing what I love - growing squash. From running my own club to organising the 2022 World Junior Squash Championships in Nancy, I’ve met incredible people and shared amazing moments on and off court. I’ve worked with kids, professionals and everyone in between, always with the same goal: help them improve and enjoy the game.” Regarding his new role in Luxembourg, he added: “I’m excited to keep building squash together - with passion, teamwork and a smile.”

Finnish coach Tomi Niinimäki brings international experience from Finland, Germany and Australia to his new role in Luxembourg. He most recently served as a senior advisor for the Swedish Squash Association, where he worked on national teams, coaching systems and club development. According to FSL, his role in Luxembourg will involve overseeing the national and elite squash programme, expanding the network of coaches and squash activators, and supporting club growth and outreach initiatives. Looking ahead to his new role, Mr Niinimäki commented: “This role allows me to combine earlier experiences and try to put everything to action to deliver the best possible outcome for squash in Luxembourg... I’m sure we can make a positive and long lasting impact during the first season already.”
