The 5th annual Nuit du Sport is being organised for Saturday 18 May, from 16:00 - 00:00 in 22 municipalities across the Grand Duchy, in an initiative organised by the National Youth Service and Ministry of Sports.
This year sports activities are available at the following locations: Beckerich, Betzdorf, Dudelange, Esch-sur-Alzette, Fischbach, Larochette-Nommern, Grevenmacher, Hesperange, Koerich, Koetschette, Lultzhausen, Luxembourg-Bonnevoie, Mondorf, Mondercange, Nidderanven, Remich, Roeser, Schengen, Steinfort, Steinsel and Wiltz.
The "Sports Night" has the objective to enable young people - and those of all ages - to discover new sports and taste physical activity in a variety of categories. For its fifth edition, the event features more than 200 original activities spread over thirty sites across the country. The activities are organised locally by youth centres, sports associations and communal services, and are supervised by qualified persons.
Aside from the more traditional sports, the activities proposed in the "Sports Night" are characterised by their originality. A number of disciplines, be they unconventional or unfamiliar, or adapted for the occasion, include: Bodykicker, Piloxing and Darkrun, as well as activities such as Slackline, Muay Thai, Ultimate Frisbee, hiphop and activities such as archery, kayaking and mountain biking.
Participation in Sports Night is free and requires no pre-registration, except for activities requiring special supervision (e.g. triathlon). Aside from wearing clothing suitable for physical activity (light clothing, shoes, swimsuit, ...), participants do not need special equipment.
In each of the participating municipalities, the "Sports Night" takes place in one or more central locations, involving different attractions. The details of the activities, schedules and events are available online: www.nuitdusport.lu
