The British & Irish Film Season (BIFS), in collaboration with the Irish Club of Luxembourg (ICL), is organising a St Patrick's Film Screening on Sunday 18 March 2018.
The film "Maze", directed by Stephen Burke and starring Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Barry Ward and Martin McCann, will be screened on Sunday 18 March at 17:00 at the Cinémathèque (Place du Theatre, Luxembourg-ville).
Synopsis: A tense, and intriguing drama which was inspired by the true events of the infamous 1983 prison breakout of 38 IRA prisoners from the Maze prison in Northern Ireland, which was to become the biggest prison escape in Europe since World War II. This adaptation of the true story features the tensions within the prison as well as portraying the human side of people who on initial inspection appear to be on different sides of the bars (and the political divide). The tension builds as the prisoners plans to escape intricately come together.
Note: The prison scenes were mostly shot at Cork prison which had been closed down just weeks before shooting began.
"Maze" had its world premier at last year's Galway Film Fleadh.
