Delhaize has announced the launch of its "Festival du Vin" (Wine Festival), which is taking place in its Luxembourg supermarkets from Thursday 20 February to Wednesday 12 March 2025.
On this occasion, Delhaize highlighted some trends, noting that it has seen a marked change in consumer habits and a diversification of wine preferences.
While French wines retain a large share of the market, red wine consumption continues to decline. Delhaize has observed strong growth in white wines from Chile, Burgundy and the Loire Valley, as well as rosé wines from Portugal and the Loire Valley. It also noted the rise of low-alcohol wines. Reducing alcohol consumption and reducing calories: the success of wines with less than 8.5% alcohol reflects these new concerns. Delhaize said it is supporting this development with a dedicated range including recognised references such as Codorniu, Mezzacorona and Casillero.
For several years, Delhaize has been expanding its offering by exploring emerging wine regions. This year, the supermarket chain is paying special attention to wines from Greece, Slovenia, Romania, Ukraine and North Macedonia, reportedly offering consumers an original alternative to traditional wine regions.
From 20 February to 12 March, Delhaize is organising its Wine Festival, an opportunity for wine lovers to discover these market developments through a selection of 200 wines, sparkling wines and alcohol-free wines. A dedicated guide will highlight ten favourites selected by the brand's experts, focusing on innovations, revisited classics and new products. Special offers and discounts will be available during these three weeks.
A unique selection tailor-made by Delhaize buyers includes: Rock 'M' Roll (Loire), a new range with a Cabernet Franc and a Chenin Blanc; Santa Julia White Malbec (Argentina), a white version of the emblematic red grape variety; Casillero Sparkling 0%, an "innovative" alcohol-free sparkling wine; PetNat - Portugal Natura, a natural sparkling wine; La Reale (Piedmont), a new range by Delhaize with prestigious appellations such as Barolo, Gavi and Barbaresco; Leo Vinum Sparkling Wine, a new 100% Souvignier Gris.
The Delhaize Wine Festival will run on the aforementioned dates in all Delhaize stores.
