On 19 December 2024, the City of Luxembourg and the Commercial Union of the City of Luxembourg (UCVL) announced the winners of the festive window decoration competition organised from early to mid-December.

The competition was organised to contribute to creating a magical atmosphere for the end-of-year celebrations and to reward the efforts of retailers to bring the magic of Christmas to customers and visitors through their storefronts.

This year, 44 businesses took part in the sixth edition of the competition, 16% of which were located in the Gare district, 79.4% in the Ville Haute and 4.6% in one of the other districts of the capital. 88.7% of the applications came from independent businesses, all sectors of activity combined.

After evaluating the window decorations according to the defined criteria – overall aesthetics of the window and/or façade, originality and overall creativity, integration of the products sold in the decor, technical execution – the jury designated as winners:

- 1st prize: the “Smets Women” boutique, located at 13 avenue de la Porte-Neuve (Ville Haute)
- 2nd prize: the “Ecrin de Verdure” boutique, located at 54 rue de Strasbourg (Gare district)
- 3rd prize: the “Optikstudio” boutique, located at 20 rue Beaumont (Ville Haute)

The jury was enthusiastic about the creativity and involvement of the traders in the creation of their windows, the window of a business being the first image it sends to its customers and therefore a real tool of seduction and communication accounting for a large part of the turnover achieved.

The winners will receive €4,000, €2,000 and €1,000 respectively, bonuses made available by the City of Luxembourg as part of this action to support commerce aimed at creating a dynamic and attractive neighbourhood life.
