On Tuesday 22 October 2024, the City of Luxembourg announced a series of free training workshops in window design for the city's retailers.

Participants will learn the basics of window design, discover the specific codes to integrate into their window decorations during the end-of-year celebrations and learn to use the materials and products of their shop to create an impressive window design. The workshop will end with practical work, including the creation of a large Christmas wreath. The objectives of this training are multiple and will be adapted according to the products offered by the different shops.

The training workshops will take place in the Design Hub in Luxembourg-Gare (42-44 Rue de Hollerich, L-1740) on the following dates:

- Monday 4 November 2024 from 08:30 until 12:00
- Wednesday 6 November 2024 from 18:00 until 21:30
- Monday 11 November 2024 from 08:30 until 12:00
- Wednesday 13 November 2024 from 18:00 until 21:30

A maximum of ten participants can be accommodated at each workshop. Prior registration is required before 16:00 on Wednesday 30 October 2024 via email: dec@vdl.lu

Moreover, the Commercial Union of the City of Luxembourg (UCVL), in collaboration with the City of Luxembourg, will organise the sixth edition of the Christmas window competition in December. The competition aims to revive and share the magic of Christmas through decorated windows and to highlight and promote the efforts of retailers that contribute to the spirit and atmosphere of Christmas in the capital. The City of Luxembourg will award the winning traders of the competition a prize.

Traders wishing to participate in the competition are requested to fill out the application form available on cityshopping.lu and return it by Wednesday 13 November 2024 via email to info@cityshopping.lu

The windows must be ready by 1 December 2024. A photographer will come and take photos of the windows during the first week of December. Around mid-December, a jury will meet and designate three winning businesses according to defined criteria. A 1st prize of €4,000, 2nd prize of €2,000 and 3rd prize of €1,000 will be awarded to the three winners.

The photos will also be used on the UCVL's social networks.
