RCL Ladies Day 2023;

On Sunday 5 March 2023, the Rugby Club Luxembourg (RCL) hosted a day of training and playing rugby specifically designed to welcome more female players to the game.

The event apparently appealed to many, with 50+ girls and women, aged between 6 and 54 years, attending the event and coming onto the pitch; and this was despite the cold temperatures.

Those attending represented some who had never played the game before, in any of its forms, as well as some who have previously played the game, be it either touch rugby or the full-contact version. Among those attending were representatives of the Walferdange ladies team which plays in the Belgian league.

Everyone seemed to have had a great time as several stations were set up on the pitch where they could practice different skills of the game to then move on to several games of touch rugby.

Many members of the club came to support and help out, making the event a great day out; some boys from the U16s even joined the games as, in their own words, "everyone is having so much fun!"

The aim of supporting and encouraging girls and women in rugby and more in general in sport, had been achieved.
