Luxembourg's Ministry of Equality between Women and Men has announced that it is organising the "Rock de Rack" festival at the Rockhal in Esch-Belval on Thursday 17 October 2019.

The festival forms part of the centennial of women's suffrage (introduced in 1919) and will focus on youth, democracy and equality.

The morning will offer two sessions of educational workshops, organised in collaboration with partners such as the Press Council, the University of Luxembourg, the Consultative Commission on Human Rights, BEE SECURE and many others. School classes, groups of young people or other individuals still have the opportunity to register for these workshops via the form available on rockderack.lu.

The afternoon will be marked by an interactive debate in the presence of Taina Bofferding, Minister for Equality between Women and Men. Organised in partnership with the Youth Parliament and the National Student Conference, this debate will revolve around the theme of gender equality and democracy in schools. It will allow young people to make their voices heard and exchange with other people of all ages on topics that interest them. The debate will take place from 13:30 to 15:30.

After a coffee break, participants can enjoy a concert with the winners of the Screaming Fields Song Contest. The afternoon programme is open to the general public and no registration is necessary.

The Rock de Rack festival marks one of the highlights of the year in terms of gender equality policy. The complete programme and additional information are available on the rockderack.lu website.
