On Tuesday 14 October 2025, Luxembourg's national railway company, the CFL, announced the opening of a new "Kiss & Rail" zone for very short stops at Luxembourg Central Station (Gare de Luxembourg).
This area is available for stops lasting up to one minute, offering motorists the opportunity to drop off a passenger who is about to take the train at Luxembourg Central Station. The zone, which can accommodate a queue of four cars, is not intended to pick up people returning by train to the station.
The "Kiss & Rail" zone is accessible via the south entrance of the bus station (Gare routière), opposite the entrance to the P+R at Luxembourg Central Station. It is marked by vertical signage and green ground markings with a pictogram indicating the maximum drop-off time.
Citing safety as its top priority, the CFL noted that the area is demarcated laterally using bollards to channel the flow of cars. The ground signage also makes it possible to separate the "Kiss & Rail" zone from taxi parking spaces. A pedestrian crossing goes through the zone.
The CFL said it is counting on everyone's participation to ensure safety and to avoid any congestion in the "Kiss & Rail" zone.
The CFL Infrastructure Manager, which is in charge of these developments, has also adapted the number of parking spaces for motorists who are either picking someone up upon arrival by train or accompanying someone to the platform or the station. The number of spaces for this purpose has been doubled from four to eight, available for a maximum of 30 minutes, on the outside ground floor of the P+R at Luxembourg Central Station. Recognisable by blue markings on the ground, these spaces are located on the right-hand side after passing through the P+R entrance barrier.
