Luxembourg's national railway company, the CFL, has announced that it will put into circulation a locomotive featuring the visual identity of the “Trounwiessel” and the image of a railway switch, symbolising its commitment to developing mobility in Luxembourg and in neighbouring regions.

This initiative comes as part of the celebrations of the change of throne on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 October 2025, when Prince Guillaume becomes Grand Duke of Luxembourg.

“By transporting several tens of thousands of passengers every day and ensuring freight convoys across Europe, CFL is at the heart of the country’s economic and social life. It is therefore with great honour and great pleasure that we join in the collective celebrations accompanying the accession to the throne of the new Grand Duke,” declared Jeannot Waringo, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CFL, and Marc Wengler, CEO of CFL.

“We warmly thank Grand Duke Henri for having, during his reign, graced with his presence several important moments in the life of our Group, such as the inauguration of our intermodal terminal in 2017. We wish Prince Guillaume every success in his new role as Grand Duke.”
