Shortly before 08:00 on Wednesday 17 September 2025, Luxembourg's national railway company, the CFL, reported that trains on the Luxembourg – Thionville – Metz line are currently suspended between Luxembourg and Thionville (in both directions).

According to the CFL, the technical failure of a freight train on the French railway network (between Thionville and Hettange-Grande) had prevented trains from running in both directions between Luxembourg and Metz.

The CFL has now confirmed the freight train which broke down has been cleared and train services on the Lorraine corridor (Luxembourg – Thionville – Metz) are now gradually returning to normal in both directions.

Some delays and cancellations may still occur.

Passengers are advised to check their journeys using the timetable search on cfl.lu or via the CFL mobile app.
