Luxembourg's Centre for Intercultural and Social Studies and Training (Centre d’Etude et de Formation Interculturelles et Sociales - CEFIS) has announced training sessions for "multipliers", individuals who will motivate others and raise public awareness to register on the electoral lists.

All residents of foreign nationality over the age of 18 can also register until 18 April 2023 on the electoral lists to vote in the municipal elections of Sunday 11 June 2023.

A reform of the electoral law voted last July cancels the condition of length of residence of five years. So that all citizens of foreign nationality, European or non-European (with residence permit), can directly request to register on the lists.

However, foreign residents are not always aware of this right nor of what the municipality can do for them on a daily basis and the electoral system in Luxembourg (list vote, splitting, etc.).

Therefore, CEFIS, in partnership with the Ministry of Family, Integration and the Greater Region, will organise training for "multipliers", a reference person within his community or group. The aim of a multiplier will be to disseminate information about political participation and the right to vote in municipal elections through information sessions, discussions with family, friends, colleagues and community.

Face-to-face training sessions (six hours each, i.e. three hours per day)

  • In French – 4 and 6 October 2022 in Luxembourg City
  • In Portuguese – 8 and 10 November 2022 in Luxembourg City
  • In English – 15 and 17 November 2022 in Luxembourg City
  • In French – 18 and 20 October 2022 in Esch-sur-Alzette
  • In French – 25 and 27 October 2022 in Diekirch

The three hour daily session will take place from 18:00 to 21:00.

Online training session are scheduled on 13 and 15 December 2022.
