Joëlle Welfring of the Green Party (déi gréng) is to replace Carole Dieschbourg as Minister of the Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development.

Carole Dieschbourg resigned her position on 22 April, with her ministerial portfolio temporarily being allocated to Claude Turmes who currently also holds the ministerial responsibilitoes for Energy and for Spatial Planning.

On Monday 2 May, HRH the Grand Duke will proceed, in the presence of the Prime Minister and Minister of State, Xavier Bettel, to the swearing in of Joëlle Welfring, as the newest member of the government.

Joëlle Welfring has held the position of Director of the Environment Administration (where she has been Deputy Director for over seven years) since just 1 April 2022. Prior to that, she was Business Development Director at CRP Henri Tudor after having directed the Resource Centre for Environmental Technologies there. She holds a master's degree in biochemistry and a master's degree in environmental sciences.
