On Friday 23 October 2015, the Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO) will be holding a free concert of classical Indian music, inciting meditation and thriving on improvisation.
Using the sitar and tabla, two strong instruments of an ancient tradition, the musicians will plunge into the spirit of inner contemplation, quickly charming the listener.
The city of Benares, the locale inspiration for the concert, is the largest of the seven sacred cities of the Hindu religion and a place of pilgrimmage along the Ganges. As a spiritual centre for the Hindu culture, traditional music, in the form of 'ragas' melodies, is passed from generation to generation in the Mishra family. Musicians interpret the melodies to maintain them and share this priceless cultural heritage with the public.
Pandit Shivnath Mishra will be on sitar, Deobrat Mishra will be on sitar and vocals and Prashsant Mishra will be on tabla.
The concert will take place at 12:30 on Friday 23 October 2015 at the Auditorium of Cercle Cité on Rue du Genistre. Admission is free.
