ICOM Luxembourg has announced that 36 museums will participate in the 29th edition of Luxembourg Museum Days on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 May 2026.

For an entire weekend, 36 museums across the country will open their doors free of charge, inviting the public to explore their permanent and temporary exhibitions as well as to take part in specially designed experiences.

The Luxembourg Museum Days are organised annually in the framework of the International Museum Day of ICOM (International Council of Museums – ICOM).

The theme for the 29th edition is “Museums Uniting a Divided World”, which will focus on how museums can act as bridges across cultural, social, and geopolitical divides, fostering dialogue, understanding, inclusion, and peace within and between communities worldwide. On the programme are a variety of participatory workshops, special guided tours, performances, concerts and many more experiences for all ages.

ICOM Luxembourg describes the event as “a unique opportunity to (re)discover the richness and diversity of Luxembourg’s museum landscape in a friendly and accessible atmosphere for everyone”.

Luxembourg Museum Days 2025 recorded 18,783 visits, confirming its status as a key cultural highlight across the country.

The programmes of the participating museums are available at www.luxembourgmuseumdays.lu

The organiser notes that some activities require prior registration directly with the museums concerned.
