ICOM Luxembourg has reported that the 28th edition of the Luxembourg Museum Days, held on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 May 2025, saw 38 participating museums record a total of 18,783 visits.
For two days, visitors were able to enjoy free access to the permanent and temporary exhibitions, as well as a varied supporting programme, at the various museums. Activities included creative workshops, special guided tours, performances and musical entertainment, storytelling walks, yoga sessions and tours by train, horse-drawn carriages and historic military vehicles.
Organised in conjunction with the International Council of Museums' (ICOM) International Museum Day, celebrated every year on 18 May, the Luxembourg Museum Days are described as "part of a desire to promote museums as essential players in communities".
The theme proposed this year by ICOM was "The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities".
