Luxembourg’s Administration of Bridges and Roads has announced upcoming roadworks on the A3 motorway between the Gasperich interchange and the Bettembourg interchange, scheduled to take place from Friday 20 to Monday 23 March 2026.
According to the administration, as part of the ongoing widening of the A3 motorway, a first series of signalling gantries will be installed, works related to the redevelopment of the Livange interchange will be carried out and various maintenance works will be undertaken. These works will require a full closure of this section from around 20:00 on Friday until around 04:00 on Monday. To limit the impact on weekday traffic, the works will take place over the weekend.
The following closures will be in place during this period:
- the A3 towards Luxembourg between the Bettembourg interchange and the Gasperich interchange;
- the slip roads at the Bettembourg interchange coming from the A13 and heading towards Luxembourg;
- the access ramp at the Livange interchange coming from the N31 and heading towards Luxembourg;
- from around 21:30 on Friday, the A3 towards Metz between the Gluck roundabout and the Bettembourg interchange;
- the slip roads at the Gasperich interchange coming from the A1 and A6 and heading towards Metz;
- the access ramp at the Hesperange interchange coming from CR231 and heading towards Metz;
- the access ramp at the Livange interchange coming from the N31 and heading towards Metz.
Traffic coming from the A3 and A13 and heading towards Luxembourg will be diverted via the A13 towards Esch-sur-Alzette, the Esch junction, the A4 towards Luxembourg, the Cessange interchange and the A6 towards the Gasperich interchange.
Traffic coming from the A1 and A6 and heading towards Metz will be diverted via the A6 towards Belgium, the Cessange interchange, the A4 towards Esch-sur-Alzette, the Esch junction, the A13 towards Schengen and the Bettembourg interchange.
Traffic coming from the N31 and heading towards Luxembourg will be diverted via the N31, CR159, CR132, N13, the Burange interchange, the A13 towards Esch-sur-Alzette, the Esch junction, the A4 towards Luxembourg, the Cessange interchange and the A6 towards the Gasperich interchange.
Traffic coming from the N31 and heading towards Metz will be diverted via the N31, CR159, CR132, N13, the Burange interchange, the A13 towards Schengen and the Bettembourg interchange.
Traffic coming from the Gluck roundabout or CR231 and heading towards the motorway network will be diverted via the N4A, N4 and the Leudelange-Nord interchange.
Access to the Berchem service area will be closed from 18:30 on Friday 20 March until around 04:00 on Monday 23 March 2026.
As preparatory works will begin several hours before the closure, traffic disruptions are expected in the late afternoon on Friday.
