The Grand Ducal Police have reported that a fatal road accident took place on the N7 on Wednesday evening.

At around 18:30 on Wednesday 5 June 2024, the police were informed of an accident between two cars on the N7 between Fridhaff and Closdelt, near Këppenhaff (Tandel).

According to initial information, the driver of a car travelling north from Fridhaff lost control of her vehicle at the intersection and ended up on the opposite lane, where she collided sideways with an oncoming vehicle. The driver of the first car, a 26-year-old woman*, succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the accident. The three occupants of the second car were taken to hospital with injuries.

The N7 had to be closed in both directions; a diversion was set up.

On the orders of the public prosecutor's office, the police forensics team was involved in the investigation on-site.

Update: The police later announced that the road in question would be closed again "for an indefinite period" from 10:30 on Thursday 6 June 2024, as part of forensic work.

*Correction: Later on Thursday, the police issued a statement in which they corrected the victim's age from 28 to 26.
