The third edition of the FIA Motorsport Games, a multidisciplinary automobile competition by nation, under the auspices of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile, was held in Valencia in Spain from 23 to 27 October; it ended with good results for the eleven Luxembourg drivers competing in nine different disciplines.
The FIA Motorsport Games kicked off with a vibrant opening ceremony at the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias on Wednesday. A total of 646 athletes from 82 nations competed in 28 categories.
While none of the Luxembourg competitors won medals, Steve Kirfel and Steve Fernandes came fourth at the wheel of the Hyundai i20N, and Alexandre Point, aged 11 years, came ninth in Karting Mini.
Host Spain had the best overall performance, winning a total of eighteen medals including six golds.
“Even if the national team did not win any medals, everyone fought hard and did their best to get the best results. Overall, I am very happy to have been able to participate in the FIA MSG with such a large delegation of 11 drivers. The team can be proud of its results. Although some drivers were hit by bad luck, the performances were there, and our drivers showed great skill. Some came very close to a medal and in almost all disciplines, we reached the final stage, which is already very gratifying,” stated Florian Brouir, Sporting Director of ACL Sport.
