Revised Emergency On-Call Hours Announced For Christmas Holiday Period

On Monday 22 December 2025, Luxembourg’s Ministry of Health and Social Security announced details of changes to the emergency on-call services for the Christmas and New Year holiday period.

According to the ministry, in the evenings, at night, at weekends and on public holidays, Hôpital Kirchberg and the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL) will provide emergency department on-call services for the Central Region throughout the year, working to an alternating duty rota.

During the year-end holiday period, the organisation of on-call services has been adjusted in accordance with the following schedule:

Wednesday 24 December 2025:

- Daytime until 15.00 (instead of 17.00) – Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg

- From 15.00 (instead of 17.00) – Hôpital Kirchberg

Thursday 25 December 2025:

- Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg

Friday 26 December 2025:

- Daytime until 17.00 – Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg

- From 17.00 – Hôpital Kirchberg

27 and 28 December 2025:

- Hôpital Kirchberg

Wednesday 31 December 2025:

- Daytime until 15.00 (instead of 17.00) – Hôpital Kirchberg

- From 15.00 (instead of 17.00) – Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg

Thursday 1 January 2026:

- Hôpital Kirchberg

The ministry advised that outside of these adjustments, the usual alternation of emergency department on-call services between the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg and Hôpital Kirchberg remains in force, in accordance with the rota available on santesecu.lu under the section “Emergency departments of on-call hospitals”.
