On Thursday 13 March 2025, the Health Directorate of Luxembourg's Ministry of Health and Social Security published its weekly retrospective concerning the evolution of the main acute respiratory infections including COVID-19, influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).

During week 10, from Monday 3 March to Sunday 9 March 2025, the number of influenza (flu) cases reported by laboratories decreased from 891 to 499, down 44% compared to the previous week. The decrease in the number of cases observed over the past five weeks confirms that the peak of the epidemic is over.

During week 10, there were 38% influenza A and 62% influenza B among the typed results. According to the latest available data, the subtypes identified were A(H1)pdm9 (43.9%) and A(H3) (56.1%).

Regarding RSV, the number of reported cases decreased by 27%. There were 90 confirmed cases, compared to 123 the previous week.

However, the health authorities noted an increase in the number of positive SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) cases, from 28 to 35, up 25% compared to the previous week, which is reported as remaining at a relatively low level. The viral concentration detected in wastewater varied over the past five weeks and showed a decline in week 10.

The latest available sequencing data reveal that three JN.1 subvariants, the XEC variant (57.7%), the KP.3 variant (12.9%) and the LP.8.1 variant (12.9%), predominated in February 2025.
