On Friday 18 February 2022, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 636 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 983 fatalities (one new death since Thursday) resulting from the virus to date.
636 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Friday from a total of 2,847 tests carried out the day before, representing 100.20 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 22.36%. Wednesday 26 January 2022 marked the record daily high of 3,073 new cases.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 564.29.
A total of 60 people are in hospital with the virus, including eight patients in intensive care.
There are currently 13,537 active infections known, whilst a total of 162,852 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 0.59.
A total of 1,258,228 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (477,723 first doses, 425,172 second doses, 355,333 additional doses). A total of 466,642 people are now fully vaccinated.
The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 109.98; for vaccinated individuals, this was 96.36. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
