On Monday 24 January 2022, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 229 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 945 fatalities (two new deaths over the weekend) resulting from the virus to date.

229 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Friday from a total of 988 tests carried out the day before, representing 36.08 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 23.18%. Thursday 20 January 2022 marked the record daily high of 3,064 new cases.

The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 2182.

A total of 71 people are in hospital with the virus, including twelve patients in intensive care.

There are currently 27,367 active infections known, whilst a total of 114,755 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 1.25.

A total of 1,205,466 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (473,723 first doses, 415,162 second doses, 316,581 additional doses). A total of 456,567 people are now fully vaccinated.

The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 57.06; for vaccinated individuals, this was 27.16. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
