On Friday 21 January 2022, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 2,838 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 943 fatalities (two new deaths since Thursday) resulting from the virus to date.

2,838 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Friday from a total of 7,728 tests carried out the day before, representing 447.12 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 36.91%. Thursday 20 January 2022 marked the record daily high of 3,064 new cases.

The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 2028.86. 

A total of 70 people are in hospital with the virus, including fourteen patients in intensive care. 

There are currently 27,246 active infections known, whilst a total of 109,381 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 1.21.

A total of 1,193,259 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (473,103 first doses, 414,574 second doses, 305,582 additional doses). A total of 455,964 people are now fully vaccinated.

The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 653.40; for vaccinated individuals, this was 359.04. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
