On Wednesday 19 January 2022, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 2,551 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 941 fatalities (one new death since Tuesday) resulting from the virus to date.

2,551 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Wednesday from a total of 6,941 tests carried out the day before, representing 401.90 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 36.77%. Wednesday 19 January 2022 marked a new record for daily COVID-19 cases in the Grand Duchy.

The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 1816.43. 

A total of 72 people are in hospital with the virus, including fifteen patients in intensive care. 

There are currently 25,376 active infections known, whilst a total of 105,327 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 1.09.

A total of 1,177,944 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (472,430 first doses, 413,404 second doses, 292,110 additional doses). A total of 454,784 people are now fully vaccinated.

The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 633.01; for vaccinated individuals, this was 302.31. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
