On Wednesday 12 January 2022, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 1,924 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 930 fatalities (no new death since Tuesday) resulting from the virus to date.

1,924 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Tuesday from a total of 6,609 tests carried out the day before, representing 303.12 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 29.12%. Wednesday 5 January 2022 marked the record daily high of 2,131 new cases.

The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 1508.

A total of 65 people are in hospital with the virus, including 19 patients in intensive care.

There are currently 18,710 active infections known, whilst a total of 99,285 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 1.26.

A total of 1,131,877 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (468,920 first doses, 409,158 second doses, 253,799 additional doses). A total of 450,399 people are now fully vaccinated.

The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 436.99; for vaccinated individuals, this was 243.57. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
