On Monday 10 January 2022, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 394 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 930 fatalities (eight new deaths since Friday) resulting from the virus to date.
364 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Thursday from a total of 1,316 tests carried out the day before, representing 57.35 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 27.66%. Wednesday 5 January 2022 marked the record daily high of 2,131 new cases.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 1526.
A total of 68 people are in hospital with the virus, including 20 patients in intensive care.
There are currently 16,343 active infections known, whilst a total of 98,766 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 1.49.
A total of 1,117,506 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (467,593 first doses, 407,852 second doses, 242,061 additional doses). A total of 449,037 people are now fully vaccinated.
The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 81.30; for vaccinated individuals, this was 46.58. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
