On Tuesday 4 January 2022, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 877 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 918 fatalities (one new death since Monday) resulting from the virus to date.

877 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Tuesday from a total of 3,553 tests carried out the day before, representing 138.17 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 24.68%. Thursday 30 December 2021 marked the record daily high of 1,280 new cases.

The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 861.71. 

A total of 69 people are in hospital with the virus, including 20 patients in intensive care. 

There are currently 9,209 active infections known, whilst a total of 96,108 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 1.10.

A total of 1,079,967 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (464,165 first doses, 403,857 second doses, 211,945 additional doses). A total of 444,896 people are now fully vaccinated.

The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 146.37; for vaccinated individuals, this was 134.37. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
