On Monday 3 January 2022, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 43 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 917 fatalities (two new deaths since Friday) resulting from the virus to date.
43 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Tuesday from a total of 570 tests carried out the day before, representing 6.77 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 7.54%. Thursday 30 December 2021 marked the record daily high of 1,280 new cases.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 805.86.
A total of 68 people are in hospital with the virus, including 21 patients in intensive care.
There are currently 8,447 active infections known, whilst a total of 95,994 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 1.32.
A total of 1,075,948 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (464,003 first doses, 403,184 second doses, 208,761 additional doses). A total of 444,414 people are now fully vaccinated.
The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 4.96; for vaccinated individuals, this was 7.62. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
