On Wednesday 29 December 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 1,053 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 911 fatalities (one new death since Tuesday) resulting from the virus to date.

1,053 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Tuesday from a total of 4,496 tests carried out the day before, representing 165.90 people per 100,000 inhabitants and the highest single day ever recorded in Luxembourg. The positivity rate was 23.43%.

The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 384.71.

A total of 66 people are in hospital with the virus, including 19 patients in intensive care.

There are currently 6,737 active infections known, whilst a total of 93,608 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 1.12.

A total of 1,057,002 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (462,183 first doses, 401,746 second doses, 193,073 additional doses). A total of 442,896 people are now fully vaccinated.

The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 182.58; for vaccinated individuals, this was 158.04. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
