On Tuesday 28 December 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 486 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections and another 29 infections on Monday 27 December 2021; there have been 910 fatalities (three new death since Thursday) resulting from the virus to date.
486 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Tuesday from a total of 2,983 tests carried out the day before, representing 76.57 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 16.30%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 320.00.
A total of 65 people are in hospital with the virus, including 19 patients in intensive care. On Monday, 27 December 2021 there were a total of 68 people in hospital including 20 in intensive care.
There are currently 5,894 active infections known, whilst a total of 93,399 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 0.88.
A total of 1,049,153 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (461,393 first doses, 401,257 second doses, 186,503 additional doses). A total of 442,364 people are now fully vaccinated.
The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 93.53; for vaccinated individuals, this was 53.30. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
