On Friday 24 December 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 543 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 907 fatalities (no new deaths since Wednesday) resulting from the virus to date.
543 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Friday from a total of 4,965 tests carried out the day before, representing 85.55 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 10.94%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 295.86.
A total of 63 people are in hospital with the virus, including eighteen patients in intensive care.
There are currently 5,917 active infections known, whilst a total of 92,159 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 1.00.
A total of 1,041,068 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (460,599 first doses, 400,650 second doses, 179,819 additional doses). A total of 441,720 people are now fully vaccinated.
The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 126.66; for vaccinated individuals, this was 65.78. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
