On Thursday 23 December 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 582 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 907 fatalities (one new death since Wednesday) resulting from the virus to date.
582 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Thursday from a total of 5,151 tests carried out the day before, representing 91.69 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 11.31%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 268.14.
A total of 69 people are in hospital with the virus, including nineteen patients in intensive care.
There are currently 5,859 active infections known, whilst a total of 91,674 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 0.93.
A total of 1,033,519 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (459,894 first doses, 400,235 second doses, 173,390 additional doses). A total of 441,277 people are now fully vaccinated.
The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 132.22; for vaccinated individuals, this was 72.36. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
