On Wednesday 22 December 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 600 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 906 fatalities (two new deaths since Tuesday) resulting from the virus to date.

600 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Wednesday from a total of 5,533 tests carried out the day before, representing 94.53 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 10.85%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases. 

The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 261.71. 

A total of 72 people are in hospital with the virus, including nineteen patients in intensive care. 

There are currently 5,941 active infections known, whilst a total of 91,011 people have recovered from the virus to date.The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 1.03.

A total of 1,025,856 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (459,379 first doses, 399,844 second doses, 166,633 additional doses). A total of 440,854 people are now fully vaccinated.

The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 145.17; for vaccinated individuals, this was 70.32. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
