On Friday 17 December 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 349 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 898 fatalities (one new death since Thursday) resulting from the virus to date.

349 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Friday from a total of 4,732 tests carried out the day before, representing 54.98 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 7.38%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.

The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 268.43.

A total of 81 people are in hospital with the virus, including 22 patients in intensive care.

There are currently 5,753 active infections known, whilst a total of 89,457 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 1.06.

A total of 1,000,134 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (456,581 first doses, 398,051 second doses, 145,502 additional doses). A total of 438,905 people are now fully vaccinated.

The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 86.84; for vaccinated individuals, this was 39.54. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
