On Wednesday 15 December 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 711 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 896 fatalities (no new deaths since Tuesday) resulting from the virus to date.
711 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Wednesday from a total of 5,920 tests carried out the day before, representing 112.02 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 12.02%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 264.00.
A total of 82 people are in hospital with the virus, including 26 patients in intensive care.
There are currently 6,012 active infections known, whilst a total of 88,314 people have recovered from the virus to date.The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 0.99.
A total of 983,706 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (455,271 first doses, 397,168 second doses, 131,267 additional doses). A total of 437,963 people are now fully vaccinated.
The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 188.17; for vaccinated individuals, this was 74.81. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
