On Tuesday 14 December 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 209 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 896 fatalities (one new death since Monday) resulting from the virus to date.
209 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Tuesday from a total of 2,873 tests carried out the day before, representing 32.93 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 7.28%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 257.57.
A total of 87 people are in hospital with the virus, including 26 patients in intensive care.
There are currently 5,471 active infections known, whilst a total of 88,144 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 0.96.
A total of 976,600 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (454,605 first doses, 396,590 second doses, 125,405 additional doses). A total of 437,351 people are now fully vaccinated.
The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 56.00; for vaccinated individuals, this was 21.61. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
