On Wednesday 18 August 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 76 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 829 fatalities (one new death since Tuesday) resulting from the virus to date.
76 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Wednesday from a total of 4,278 tests carried out the day before, representing 11.97 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 1.78%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 38.43.
A total of 27 people are in hospital with the virus, including five patients in intensive care.
As per figures from Tuesday 17 August 2021, there are currently 740 active infections known, whilst a total of 73,286 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproductive rate in Luxembourg stands at 1.06.
A total of 748,777 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (400,727 first doses, 348,050 second doses); 596 individuals received their first dose of the vaccine and 864 received their second dose on Monday. A total of 382,205 people are now fully vaccinated.
The Health Ministry no longer communicates data relating to COVID-19 on weekends.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
