On Thursday 5 August 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 68 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 824 fatalities (no new deaths since Wednesday) resulting from the virus to date.

68 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Thursday from a total of 5,396 tests carried out the day before, representing 10.71 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 1.26%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases. 

The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 40.00.

A total of 20 people are in hospital with the virus, including five patients in intensive care. 

As per figures from Wednesday 4 August 2021, there are currently 941 active infections known, whilst a total of 72,447 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 0.85.

A total of 723,051 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (395,352 first doses, 327,699 second doses); 463 individuals received their first dose of the vaccine and 3,105 received their second dose on Wednesday. 360,883 people are now fully vaccinated.
