Luxembourg's Ministry of Family Affairs, Integration and the Greater Region and the Ministry of Health have announced the continuation of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign for people experiencing homelessness.
After the first vaccination events targeting homeless people in the premises of the "Wanteraktioun" on 1 and 2 June 2021, the authorities extended the campaign in order to reach as many people as possible who find themselves in a very precarious situation and who, for health reasons, geographical distance or other reasons, were unable to attend last month's events. As such, the mobile vaccination teams of the Department of Health and the Family Affairs Ministry organised three additional vaccination events, in close collaboration with actors in the field.
On 16, 19 and 20 July 2021, 160 people were vaccinated with the single-dose Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine as part of this campaign. These events took place at the Caritas social bistro in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie, as well as at the respective Abrigado sites in Luxembourg City and on the site of the parish house in Esch-sur-Alzette.
Each mobile vaccination team was made up of a medical team leader and an administrative and logistical assistant from the Luxembourg Army, the Grand-Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (Corps grand-ducal d'incendie et de secours - CGDIS) or the Customs and Excise Agency.
